Inflammatory conditions – Spondyloarthritis
Have you had multiple tendon issues, itchy or red eyes, skin, blotchy, pock-holed nails and irritable bowel issues. It may be possible that you have a type of spondyloarthritis.
Anklylosing spondylitis, enteropathic arthritis and psoriatic arthritis all fall under the umbrella term of spondyloarthritis. Unlike rheumatoid, spinal complaints and tendon/enthospathies may only begin after the onset of these other ailments
Fun Fact: Only 20 % of all psoriasis sufferers develop spondyloarthritis.
There is increasing evidence that Crohns, colitis and irritable bowel syndromes and all associated.
Spondyloarthritis should be managed by a full medical team including physiotherapy and exercise physiologists.
Some famous sportsman have had these conditions – Caroline Wozniacki ( the tennis player), Phil Mickelson, Venus Williams and our very own Michael Slater – and have still managed to excel at the highes level of their sports.
